Finally my district posting in Besut is ending soon... Well honestly, at first I was very reluctant to go to Besut. However, as saying goes, " Don't judge a book by it's cover", it was indeed a rather nice place despite the water supply problem.
Why I say so?
This is a celebration of Chap Goh Meh in Besut organized by Rukun Tetangga of Bandar Jerteh:)
Lion dance.....
brought to you exclusively from students from SMJK Chung Hwa Jerteh
They are so professional and a big applause for their splendid performances! Below was a special trick that they were performing...I don't know what it called, but I personally named it as the 'Chew mandarin oranges, show wang!' (Weird name though, all the medical books eat up my creativity...:P)
Step 1: Chew mandarin orange (Not you, is the lion)
Step 2: Spit out
Step 3: Tada!
Wang!
P.S. Actually I had no idea how this character was arranged on the road because I was busy taking photos and checking out around :P And do you know which foot/feet belongs to me?
After that, was a eating session. Sorry no pictures as I was busy helping myself to the piles of food served...:P
But, do you notice that in every picture that I'm showing, there is not only Chinese community but also Malay community who took part in this event. We all sat together regardless of ethnicity. We ate and we chat together....And most important of all, we CELEBRATED together.
We are MALAYSIAN. Not Malay nor Chinese or Indian. A long forgotten truth.
Surprising, I sort of like this small town:)
